Fishery

A problem developed at a fishery in Essex where a 1.5-acre lake had a major oxygen problem, resulting in over 600 fish being lost. Sykes responded fast, mobilising a Venturi system the same afternoon, which was running by 5 o'clock. The Venturi is simple and easy to install, requiring no specialised personnel. The system included a 6" Silenced pump and hoses. After installation, oxygen levels increased to the extent that no more fish were lost.

 

The Millennium Dome

Sykes was the nominated pumps supplier for dewatering at the Millennium Dome, with contaminated water treated onsite then pumped away. This involved large volumes and long distances, over 600m, with automated systems installed to run continuously as water levels dictated. Sykes expertise was also used to design and install specialist dewatering projects that included deep well and standard systems. All types of pumps were used from 2" to 8" submersible and diesel pumps, air pumps and specialist jetting and slurry pumps. The reason Sykes was selected for this project is because of their breadth and depth of experience and extensive range of equipment.
